Worn Grey Green Limestone Stair with a Curved Iron Rail

Set against a pale limewashed wall, this reclaimed limestone stair carries the deepest wear of anything in the collection. The treads are thick and squarely cut, but their nosings have been rounded off by use until the front edge of each one is soft, and the stone has taken on a green grey cast with faint traces of an older surface still legible. A curved black iron rail sweeps up on the open side. Available to buy, it suits monastic and chateau interiors, restored mills and projects where genuine centuries of footfall matter more than a crisp arris.
