Floating Antique Limestone Stair with a Curved Bottom Step

Photographed against a soft blue grey plaster wall, this reclaimed limestone stair rises as a run of individual treads carried on an open string, each one worked with a moulded profile along its front edge so the flight reads as a line of floating stone rather than a solid block. The bottom step swells into a generous rounded curl at the newel, and one slender iron handrail follows the climb. The stone is pale, chalky and softly worn.
