Rough Hewn Limestone Stair with Chiselled Tread Edges
Seen side on, this reclaimed limestone stair is built from unusually deep treads whose front edges are left in a coarse split face, pitted and irregular, against risers finished smooth. The contrast is the whole point of the piece: refined where you tread, raw where you look. A black iron balustrade of turned balusters climbs alongside a second flat iron rail bolted through with visible rivets, and an arched alcove is tucked beneath the run. Available to buy, it suits rustic Mediterranean houses, wine cellars, farmhouse conversions and interiors built around plaster and rough stone.
